A Big Week!

This past week has been crazy busy!

On Monday we got a new front door installed on the house (A Craftsman style door by Pella. this instagram photo makes it look brighter than it is in real life, it's not a bright red but a dark brick red). Wondering whose truck that is in the driveway? Well, that same day, Johns dad and family friend were up helping John put in some extra support beams in the garage to help prevent it from crashing down on the car one day, which is nice.

On Tuesday, we started to tear up the carpet in the family room, knowing that there was hardwood floor under it. Little did we know that the hardwood was not under the WHOLE floor *or* that whoever put the hardwood floor down didn't put a subfloor or moisture barrier or ANYTHING! In other words, in parts of the floor we could see down to the GROUND (our family room is an addition on the house and so there's no basement under it). Needless to say, we decided not to save the hardwood (which was a shame, as it was beautiful!) Since we had people coming into town over the weekend we decided to go out and buy a laminate wood floor the next day so we could install it before the weekend. Yup. We really are that crazy.

So, Wednesday, I worked a half day and then went on a Floor Hunt. No one has a large variety of Laminate floors in stock, it seems, so I had very little to choose from, which actually made my decision easier! I found one that I actually loved - it had a little bit of texture to it and made it seem much more "real" to me, and the color was a nice reddish-brown.

Thursday... oh, Thursday. I can't think our friend Bryan enough - I asked him just the day before if he'd be willing to help us install the floor, and he immediately agreed and came over right after work on Thursday and he and John really powered through, he stayed until almost 11pm to help! I also have to thank Andrew, who had a YPA meeting with me after work, but came over after the meeting, and helped install the final two-thirds of the floor, even accidentally putting his knee through one of the floor vents (ouch!)

Friday we had to put the room all back together since people were coming over THAT NIGHT. You can see a not-so-good-quality cell phone pic of the floor here! (I took photos with my real camera, too, but you do realize I'm still posting photos from back in February over here, right? So... yeah... it'll be a while until you see those!)

Friday night, John's friends came into town for a weekend of computer gaming. Some Quake II game called KOTS. They pretty much played All Weekend Long.

I left them all crashed out and sleeping around 8:30 this morning to drive to Pittsburgh where I got to watch my goddaughter, Katie, celebrate her First Communion. It was such a special day, and I was so glad I was able to be there to witness it! And then the kids got to do another Easter Egg hunt, because E wanted photos of it :)

And then I drove home. And soon I will crawl into bed and start another work week!

Oh, but let's catch up on some photos from February, shall we?

I had been CRAVING Friday's Bruschetta Pasta, so John took me there for Valentine's Day. The waitress suggested i add broccoli to the dish - great suggestion!
