Darren's Recital

I recently got a chance to go to Chicago and perform on my flute for the first time in about 12 years! Darren is just weeks away from getting his Master degree in Music Composition, and as part of that he had to have a Graduate Recital, completely filled with music that he composed. There was a string quartet of wedding music he wrote for his sister's wedding, a bell choir suite, various vocal pieces, a clarinet duet, a piano duet... and a piece for flute and piano he wrote just for me!

I drove out to Chicago to perform with the piece he wrote just for us. I actually sounded really good! Especially for having not played in so long. The trip itself was long and stressful, and even though John came with me, it didn't feel like a vacation at ALL. But the recital was worth it.

This picture is of Darren and I after the recital at the reception his family threw for him. You can't tell in the picture that I've already changed into tennis shoes under my dress! I am the epitome of fashionable.

Snowy House

We got a lot of snow here in Ohio recently - so much so that I had to leave work early one day and work from home the next because the roads were HORRIBLE. There was over a foot of snow on my driveway that I had to trudge through in order to take this picture. I love my cute little house and I think it looks even cuter with all the snow on it.

As pretty as it is, I'm glad it's all melting away now :)
