Kaylee's Home

Kaylee
Originally uploaded by Cutiemoo.

Well, as you guys all know, my precious Kaylee died last August. I asked to have her cremated and get her ashes back, but I had to go pick them up myself and I never had the heart to do it. I had to take Maia back to the same emergency vet (long story, which I don't feel like telling but the short version is: she's ok.) this past weekend and so I was able to pick up Kaylee's ashes. They're in a nice little tin, and I've put her up on the mantle near a picture of Kaylee and I... it's not my favorite picture of her (it's really not even a great one), but I don't have many printed pictures of her, as I only have the digital camera.

There's pictures of Myles and Maia in my flickr. I feel like those are the only pictures i ever take, though, so I didn't want to bore you with them here.

The Pella guy comes tomorrow to do the final measurements for the windows! I'm so excited and freaked about the money all at the same time! it should definitely be worth it in the long run, though.

The weather is starting to get really nice, and I'm really enjoying it... we even slept with the windows open last night! The nice weather is really making me look forward to the baseball games Datsun and I have planned this year - where I get to see the Indians beat the Reds! :)

Sticky laptops and windows.

7 years. As of Tuesday, that's how long I'll have been working at FirstEnergy. Which means, that's 7 years I've been entrusted with at least one computer at work. I currently have three. That also means there's been 7 years I've had at least one soda while sitting in my cube pretending to work. (Er. I mean. Working. Yeah, that's right. I work.)

Yesterday I was working on Laptop#3, and I finally got my program working! Oh, how exciting it was to see all the data flowing smoothly between all the forms, what an accomplishment! I threw my hands up in glee... and watched my full bottle of soda splash all over laptop#2. *sigh* Of course, Laptop#2, being as it's older, is out of warranty. OH GOOD! I mean. Not that I have to pay for it. But. Still.

So, the laptop's pretty much screwed. Looks like they're going to have to take everything off my harddrive and slap it on a new laptop for me. I know this happens all the time. I know I'm not the first person to do it. But I still felt really stupid having to report it to the help desk so they could fix it. As of right now I just have a big sticky paperweight with letters and numbers on it sitting on my desk.

In other news, I'm THIS close to getting new windows for my house. While I have enough cash to just outright pay for it, the very, very big price tag is freaking me out a lot. Obviously the windows will pay for themselves in resale value of the house, a tax refund, and the savings in my heat and cooling bills. But. Still. eeesh. EEEESH, I say.

Jennifer on the flute

Well, twelve years after I graduated from high school, and therefore really performed with my flute, I was able to play for quite the crowd at Darren's recital. Amongst all the other performers (all of whom were Graduate Music Performance majors), was a 29 year old who hasn't touched her flute in years! It was intimidating, but I would have done anything for Darren, and it's such an honor that he even wrote a song JUST FOR ME!

Anyway, since John was the only one lucky enough to actually hear the performance first-hand, I thought you all might like to know that Jennifer still has a little bit of flute talent left in her. So, without further ado, here is From Kepner's to On Tap with a Few Boys Inbetween
