Of Not Getting Old

I was on a conference call at work today when I stretched, which apparently caused me to pinch a nerve or something in my back, and I've been in pain for the rest of the day.  This is one of those things that never would have happened to me 10 years ago.  I suppose this is a sign of "getting old", but I hardly think 34 is old (despite what John's friends might say).

In other, perhaps more exciting, news: we finally got the missing shingles on our roof replaced today.  A few blew off in a recent wind storm, and so we called a roofer who came out and replaced the missing ones (with such a good color match, I can't even figure out where the patch is), as well as went around and tacked down a few more that needed tacking down.  Exciting stuff.  Especially exciting because we have one of the roofs that people look at and say "dang, that's steep!"  Because, well, it's a very steep roof, and there's no way in heck I was getting up there even if I knew how to fix a roof.  Which I don't, and I never want to know, so I'm ok with that.

Anyway, let's try to catch up on some more photos, shall we?  I'll start off with our friend Joe Garcia (stage name: Hoseff), playing at Sweet Pea Cafe:

My newest pair of shoes. I like them.

OUTSIDE???
This is the typical view in our living room when we have all the windows open. Including (which is hard to tell here) the knocked-over lamp.

086.366 - Yoshi Likes Chocolate
A friend/co-worker went to Hershey, PA and brought me back of these GIANT candy bars. Yoshi tried to steal it.

Homemade bread + salad = good dinner

This is my kitty!
You didn't think I could write a whole entry and not post a photo of a cat, did you? (this is Myles)

087.366 - Clean Start, Clean Food
LOVE these cookbooks. I bought Clean Food last year and became obsessed, so I bought Clean Start this year.  Warning: they're vegan cookbooks, but I often make mine just vegetarian by using actual honey and milk when it calls for things like agave nectar and rice milk.

John and I spent this past Saturday night in Pittsburgh for two reasons - 1) one of our friends was turning 30 (he said I give him hope that being in your 30s doesn't mean you're old and boring. Hooray) and 2) Saturday was the 6th anniversary of our first day!  Saturday night was pretty packed with birthday festivities, including dinner at Church Brew Works and we crashed in our hotel room (an anniversary present to each other, we stayed at the Omni downtown - just beautiful!) before waking up to breakfast at Pamela's and then a trip to Ikea, where of course, we somehow managed to spend money on the most random things.

Here are some photos from early Spring that have nothing to do with our weekend in Pittsburgh!

079.366 - care for a bite?
Have you ever had Almond Dream "ice cream"? I love it because it tastes awesome (especially the Cappuccino Swirl) but doesn't make me feel sick like real ice cream does!

I took the photos of this adorable one-year-old (the daughter of a friend I work with)

Yoshi in a purse
Sometimes John takes Yoshi and puts him in weird places for me to find eventually.  Like this time when apparently Yoshi wanted to go to work with me.

I took today off of work because John and I were thinking about taking a "long weekend trip", but ultimately decided to just quickly skip town Saturday evening for a friend's birthday.  But once I've requested a day off of work, it's hard not to use it, so we've been working on getting some more stuff done around the house.

Because I'm still tragically behind in posting some photos from our everyday life here, I'm also going to take some time to try and catch up!

You should probably not run into these windows. It would hurt.
