Pemaquid

As previously mentioned, I have a ton of photos from our trip to Maine! Our main destination was Acadia National Park (we rented a cottage in Bar Harbor that was the perfect size for the two of us), but on the way up we stopped at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. It's the lighthouse that is depicted on the Maine state quarter. The most impressive thing about the lighthouse is really the rocky shore (as you'll see below). I remember going here as a kid and having a blast climbing around on the rocks. I'm not sure what John thought about making this stop, or what he was expected, but he seemed to agree it was a pretty impressive sight to behold. We wandered around long enough to take these photos, and that's just about all we did before getting back in the car and heading the rest of the way up to Acadia.

Oh, and we were there on 9/11, which is why the flag is at half mast.

Biking the Towpath - and more!

Yes, I'm posting two posts right in a row because I want to get some stuff out of the way before posting the Maine photos, because I have a bunch!

These first two are kind of random... a leaf stem on the grill with waterdrops on it, and a bell pepper from our garden:

One day we felt like having a fire in the firepit and John took a box full of shredded paper and dumped it out - still in cube shape - to start the fire. It was awesome and hilarious:

We've been riding our bikes a lot this summer on the towpath. Here are some pictures from some of our biking adventures:

Deer Creek - Part Two

We decided to venture away from the park in order to go to Clifton Mill for lunch. I remember going here for breakfast a few times when I was younger. We once met up with my aunt, uncle and cousins and it's my dad did the "international sign for splitting a breakfast". It's funny the random things like that I remember! Anyway, after eating a delicious lunch, I wandered the grounds for some photos:

After that we drove a nearby bike trail and, well, biked on it! Here are some photos from the trail:

Deer Creek - Part One

Back in July, I spent a weekend at Deer Creek State Park with my parents. I had never been to one of the State Parks during the busy summer season, but we still had a great time exploring the park and the surrounding area.

I got to the lodge before my parents did, and after getting all my stuff to my room (which was a pain and a half because there were no bike racks on site, so I had to bring my bike into my room. With all my camera gear. And clothes and stuff. That's a lot of stuff and I'm too stubborn to make two trips. Plus it was hot), I decided to roam the lodge while waiting for my parents. It actually had a pretty cool lobby:

After my parents got there, we biked some of the grounds, until I got too hot/tired/hungry! So we went back to the lodge to eat dinner. I was starving! Here's the view from the lodge restaurant:

Then we walked down to the docks, where a kid was fishing and there were three random chairs looking out over the water:

The next morning, we had breakfast at the lodge and got to see this little guy out the window:

And then we went on one of the trails, one that went down by the water and offered some nice views:
