Sleepy Myles and various updates

How could you not fall in love with this cutie?

Anyway. Life is good in the Jacobs/DeBacco household. I've still been taking a lot of pictures, and have finally started working on my editing skills, though I am far (far!) from an expert.

Two weeks from today, John and I leave for a week in Vegas. Turns out we're there longer than we really have to be - the conference doesn't actually start until Tuesday and ends Friday at noon, so we could have flown out Sunday and still had 2 days to ourselves, but instead we're flying out Saturday. Plus, we could have flown back friday afternoon instead of taking the redeye friday night. But, I'm sure we'll find things to do ... including, hopefully, getting together with Tim (my cousin), who lives down there.

This also means that two weeks from now is when we finally move into the new building at work! I'm really looking forward to walking and riding my bike to work... and looking forward to saving money on my car insurance because of it! I'm also excited to be moving into a LEED-certified building (and looking forward to seeing the things they've done)... a building with a cafeteria! And a fitness room! ... slightly sad about our cubes being smaller, and slightly sad about who I'll be sitting by... but overall, very happy about the move.

Speaking of work, it has provided some great friends for John and I. I didn't have many friends when married and I didn't make many more before I started dating John. John was still in college at the time, so we had his group of friends, but as they all started graduating and moving on, we found we had fewer friends around... and then I just happened so stumble into some of the nicest, funniest and geniunely good people around. I enjoy working with them, and enjoy hanging out with them outside of work, too. There's about a decade that separates us all in age (and I'm not the oldest!!! Bryan's older! And his wife is, too!), but it doesn't seem to matter (I'm not sure if that means the younger ones are more mature, or if that's saying something about Bryan and I...)

Currently John and I are trying to slowly do more things to make this house more "us". Which is hard, since I hate spending money. We've done a lot of little projects that aren't really noticable, but I've also recently gotten a lead on a person to do our kitchen remodel. Sometimes I feel bad for John because he moved into MY house ... really, so much of a dream house for me, and while he has "his" rooms (the poker room and the basement), it's still him living in "my" house. I know he'd much prefer a new construction house, and it makes me wonder how long I really will live here, or if I'll eventually sell this house so that we can buy a new house together that's OURS. Meh... I'm content living out MY dreams for now :)

Also. E, you really need to post a new entry. Srsly. :)

Oh, so you're only "slightly" sad about sitting by me in the new building? *meh*
